Anthony from Mavuno: avocados for a fairer future

Anthony, founder of Mavuno Organics, recently visited us – our partner for Organic Raingrown Avocados from Kenya. In the video, he talks about his mission, the importance of fair trade and the impact Mavuno is making on people and the environment. 

Organic, Fairtrade and Living Wage 

Mavuno's avocados are organically grown and completely raingrown – meaning no irrigation with scarce drinking water – and Fairtrade certified, which ensures a fair price for the growers. 

The sale of these avocados also makes it possible to pay a living wage to the workers in the warehouses – a wage that allows them to pay for housing, education for their children, healthcare and a reserve for unexpected expenses, among other things. The legal minimum wage in Kenya is not sufficient for this. 

From grower to Biocoop: store visit in Paris 

During his visit to Europe, Anthony visited various Biocoop shops in Paris, where he was proud to see the avocados from the cooperative of growers with which Mavuno works.
